Seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day: an overextended care for the 85 horses starring in the Italia.Open to Meraviglia- FEI Jumping European Championship Milan 2023 at the Snai San Siro racecourse. A super team of vets ate taking very good and constant care of them, under the guidance of the ‘Vet Manager’ Francesco Tosto (in the pictures). He explains the work of the Horse Ambulance Group.
“We care for the wellbeing of horses in sporting competitions in Italy and Europe, so that they can get the most out of their competitive requirements. Our group is supported by important technical sponsors who enable us to have the best laboratory and diagnostic equipment. We are all freelancers, but on these occasions, we work with the Horse Ambulance Group with precise protocols for each emergency, and promptly intervene on the competition field or even during the daily routine of these horses. The Horse Ambulance Group as well as the Brughiera Veterinary Clinic were created some 20 years ago by Dr Alessandro Centinaio. Since then, we have always tried to adjust to the state of the art and innovations in this sector in order to meet the demands of the organisers. There are seven veterinary doctors here providing 24-hour care, and we have two ambulances at our disposal, one in the competition arena and one in the stables area.
