Daniele Massaro and Fabio Galante presented the award to the groom with the highest degree of fair play on Saturday on the occasion of the CSI2* Graziano Mancinelli Frecciarossa Grand Prix.
Two football legends from the Milan and Inter teams met today at the 37th Italia. Open to Meraviglia -FEI Jumping European Championship 2023 at the Snai San Siro racecourse ahead of the championship derby on September 16; they met for a different occasion, the Fair Play Award.
The two former football players met during the equestrian event on Saturday in Milan, on the occasion of the Graziano Mancinelli Frecciarossa Grand Prix, in memory of one of the Italian jumping champions of the post-war international equestrian scene.
It was a Polish rider, Andrzej Oplatek, who obtained the victory in this Grand Prix.
Instead, the Fair Play Award was presented by the former striker, Daniele Massaro, from the red and black Milan team and by the former defender, Fabio Galante, from the white and black Inter team to groom Slawomir ‘Slawek’ Czerko, who distinguished himself for his diligence and behaviour during these days of competition.
“I am very proud to return to this important event and to represent the Milan team once again for the ‘Fair Play’ award,” said Massaro from the red and black team. “It is an award that harbours a fundamental principle of any discipline. As Milan team, we feel the responsibility of representing a large community of millions of sports fans – from the city of Milan to the whole world – and we have always been committed to sharing the positive values of sport, which must always be a space of loyalty, respect and friendship, a testing ground for commitment and human growth“.
This very concept was reiterated by the former defender, Galante, from the Inter team: ‘It is a pleasure to be here today, as an Inter Legend, at the award ceremony for the Fair Play prize, a fundamental value that unites all disciplines, from football to equestrian sports. As Inter team, we are particularly proud to present this award because it fully represents the values that have been part of our club’s DNA since its foundation: inclusion, brotherhood and respect’.
