It was a long-awaited ceremony, and the long and heartfelt applause of the public and insiders was the clearest testimony to this. On the final day devoted to the individual title award at the Italia. Open to Meraviglia- FEI Jumping European Championship Milan 2023, the competition field at the Snai San Siro Racecourse was officially named ‘Arena Marco Fusté‘, in memory of the late director of the International Equestrian Federation jumping director, who died prematurely on January 5 at the age of 60
The commemorative plaque was “unveiled” by daughter and by Fabio Schiavolin (Snaitech spa CEO and President of the Organising Committee), promoter of the initiative.
The ceremony was attended by several riders alongside Fusté’s wife and daughter and by Marco Di Paola (FISE President) and Sabrina Ibanez (FEI General Secretary).
Fusté had collaborated with Snaitech on the occasion of the first two editions of the Milano Jumping Cup; he had started working for the FEI in February 2021 after having previously held the position of technical director of the jumping sector for the Royal Equestrian Federation of Spain for some fifteen years, as well as that of chef d’equipe of the national team since 2006. He had great expertise and charisma, and was highly respected in the field of jumping at the world level; he was a great fan of football and tennis, sports in which he had also held some managerial functions. However, it was actually his role as FEI jumping technical director that had been most rewarding for him: ‘The realisation of my professional dream’.
